History of KMC

The merging of the Zion Mennonite Church and the Bethany Mennonite Church was completed in 1973. The first worship service of the Kingman Mennonite Church was on May 6, 1973.The Bethany Church was organized March 21, 1906. This congregation was started to provide a place for Mennonite families who homesteaded to have a place to worship, fellowship and share in mutuality. The first church building was dedicated on June 9, 1907. The building was destroyed by fire when struck by lightening August 24, 1930. A new church building was dedicated May 29, 1932.The Zion Church was organized December 15, 1929. The church was built in 1936 and the dedication service was held July 11, 1937.On October 11, 1990 the Kingman Mennonite Church building was destroyed by a fire. A new site was selected for the building of the current facility. Ground breaking services were held June 2, 1991. A Cornerstone Dedication was held for the congregation at the new site on June 7, 1992. This was followed by a Church Dedication and Open House on June 28, 1992.

What We Believe and Teach

We believe the Bible to be the inspired, authoritative, written Word of God (II Timothy 3:15, II Peter 1:19-21).

We believe there is One God, eternally existent in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit - The Trinity (Matthew 3:15-17, Matthew 28:19).

We believe that Jesus Christ was God in human flesh (1 John 4:3). He was at once fully divine and fully human (Hebrews 2:14). We believe in the Virgin Birth (Luke 1:30-35). We believe in His sinless life (Hebrews 4:15). His miracles (John 20:30-31). His atoning death on the cross (Romans 5:6-8). His bodily resurrection (Luke 24:36-43). His ascension to the right hand of the Father (Luke 24:50-51). His present ministry of intercession (Romans 8:34, Hebrews 7:25). His personal return in power and glory (John 14:1-3, I Thessalonians 4:16-18).

We believe that human beings were created in the image of God (Genesis 1:26-27), but rebelled against God and are therefore fallen, lost, estranged from their Creator, and in need of Salvation (Genesis 3, Romans 3:23).We believe that only those who, in repentance and faith receive Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord are converted, born again into the Holy Spirit and thus become Children of God (Matthew 4:17; John 1:1,14; John 3:3-7).

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit who convicts of sin and enables Christians to pursue life characterized by personal holiness and faithful discipleship in the obedience to Christ (Ephesians 5:15-21, Colossians 3:1-17).

We believe that the Church is the body of Christ (I Corinthians 12:27, Ephesians 1:22-23). This Body is composed of believers from every nation who through saving faith have entered into a vital relationship with Jesus Christ (Revelation 7:9). We believe that the Church is at the very center of God's cosmic purpose, (Ephesians 5:25-33) and that God has committed to the Church and every member of it the task of making Christ known throughout the world (Matthew 28:19-20, Luke 24:45-48).We believe that local congregations of baptized believers exist to equip the body of Christ through such means as worship, teaching, fellowship and prayer - to spread the Gospel of Christ, to extend the influence of the Kingdom of God in the world, and to run themselves outward to their local communities in evangelistic witness and compassionate service (Acts 2:42-47, I Thessalonians 1:2-10).

We believe that the reality of sin in the human heart results in suffering, injustice, strife and moral decay in society (Romans 1:18-32. Psalms 14:1-4, Galatians 5:15).We believe that, in Jesus Christ, the way of love and reconciliation is revealed as God's way for His people and that the people of God are called to value the sanctity of human life (Exodus 20:13, Romans 12:9-21).We believe in the resurrection of all people, those who are saved unto the resurrection of everlasting blessedness with the Lord, and those who are lost to eternal separation from God (John 5:28-29, Revelation 20:11-15, 21-26).

We believe that, in the fullness of time, God will bring all things in heaven and on earth together under one head, the Lord Jesus Christ (Ephesians 1:19-23, Colossians 1:15-20).
